Took a four day Scamping trip to one of my favorite camp sites on Ocracoke Island. It’s one of my favorites because the beach is literally right over a dune from where you camp, seriously, walk over a big sand dune and you’re there. Some other Pro’s: Camp fires on the beach, Driving on the beach, You can hear the ocean from your camp site and it’s a neat island with a rich history. Of course, some Con’s: The campground is primitive; no water or electricity hookups, Community bathrooms and showers but no hot water, No shade, Since it’s an island only accessible by ferry, provisions are 20-25% more expensive than on the mainland.
